A love for youth and the development of their full potential was the primary motivating factor that inspired Founder Mary Lou Allison Gardner Little to organize Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. Young people today face challenges that could never have been imagined years ago, but such challenges provide the sorority with opportunities to carry on the vision of Little.

The Rhoer Club is an affiliate of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. Rhoers are organized on a local, regional and national level. Rhoer Clubs consist of a diverse group of young ladies between the ages of 12 and 18 who demonstrate a capacity for scholarship, leadership, and service.  Rhoers are mentored by Sigma Gamma Rho members in a supportive environment where they learn to develop their own leadership skills while setting an example for other young people. Ultimately, the Rhoer Club serves as an effective means to encourage our young women to have high educational and career aspirations, prime them to meet the challenges of adulthood, and teach them to be active contributors in their community.
